Notable: "All paces and experience levels are welcome to join us," group leader Ciara Massingale says. "I always make sure no one ever runs alone!" ... The "night" hike is at 5:45 a.m. on these days. ... Group members also earn a free Wilder Uwharrie Trail Running silicone bracelet and bumper sticker. ... Participants should take their own fueling and hydration.

Greensboro

BLUELINERS
When:
7:30 a.m. Saturdays, 5:55 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Starting line: On the blue line in front of the Spencer Love Tennis Center, 3802 Jaycee Park Dr., Greensboro.
How far: Saturdays – Out-and-back course over the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway toward Strawberry Road. The majority of the Blueliners will run 8 or 11 miles. For longer distances, folks arrive at 7 a.m. or earlier and return for the 7:30 start. Tuesdays and Thursdays – Leave parking lot at 5:55 a.m. for 4-5 mile run; about half the group now walks. Finish by 7 a.m.
How fast: "8 minutes per mile or so for the jack rabbits, up to 10 for the oldies. We have walkers as well." – Rick King.

DOWNTOWN DASHERS
When:
5 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 a.m. Saturdays.
Starting lines: Bryan Family YMCA, 501 W. Market St., Greensboro, on Tuesdays and Thursdays; varied locations on Saturdays.
How far: 3-6.5 miles Tuesdays and Thursdays, including hills, steps, plyometrics, stairs and track; long runs, variety of distances, Saturdays.
How fast: Six minutes per mile to Galloway run-walk method. Group runs begin together then break into smaller groups by pace. The Dashers use the buddy system. Dashers observe COVID guidelines on masks and distancing.

GREENSBORO RUNNING CLUB

Starting lines: Steel Hands Brewing, 1918 W. Gate City Blvd., on Tuesdays; Brewed & Bottled, 4113 Lawndale Dr., on Saturdays.
How far: 2 and 4 miles on Tuesday nights; variety of distances on Saturdays, with a "show-and-go" style, club president Sarah Hampton says.
How fast: "We welcome all paces, walkers and runners alike. You do not have to be a member to join us," Hampton says.
Notable: The club hosts eight-week run series on Tuesday nights around Greensboro. ... The club, which does offer a membership that includes race discounts, social events and more, was founded in 1976.

How fast: All levels welcome.
Notable: Weekly rewards and free prizes for participation. ... Dogs, jogging strollers, and all fitness levels and ages are welcome! Routes change each week depending on the crowd so everyone can ‘tap their potential’ (could be a loop, could be an out-and-back). Join for a casual and upbeat run, then stay for a pint (or non-alcoholic drink). Wednesdays are also half off wines by the glass, a quarter off wines by the bottle.

Starting line: Marcus T. Johnson Track, Truist Stadium, N.C. A&T, East Lindsay and Sullivan streets, Greensboro.
How far: Each runner's choice.
How fast: All paces welcome, including walkers.
Notable: "We have a variety of paces and experience levels. Some runners are competitive and want to improve their speed for upcoming races. Some are just out to socialize while getting exercise. The group leader sends out an email every Sunday with a proposed workout, but everyone is welcome to run any distance and any pace. Our goal is to have a good workout and to enjoy it. The track is world-class, and water and bathrooms are nearby and are usually available." – group leader Carl Cook.

VBC RUN CLUB

Starting lines: Tuesdays at gravel parking lot at the end of Summerfield Road at U.S. 220; Saturdays location varies.
How far: Tuesday, out-and-back on the A&Y, a variety of distances with the majority doing 3-4 miles; Saturdays vary depending on the location but are typically reserved for long runs.
How fast: "All paces are welcome and encouraged!" says VBC Run Club's Karyssa Haithcock. "We have runners, joggers, walkers, and even some cyclists – we are pet- and kiddo- friendly – just come move and enjoy the company!
Notable: "On Tuesdays, we meet at Village Beverage Co. post-run to mingle while enjoying cold beverages and snacks," Haithcock says. "There is also an extremely good chance that Karyssa will provide freeze pops on Tuesdays."

TWIN CITY TRACK CLUB GROUP RUNS

From the Club: Twin City Track Club (TCTC) hosts several group runs during the week. TCTC running groups includes both casual runners and those who are working on improving speed and distance, or training for a specific race. The groups runs are posted on MeetUp where you can find out more about the runs and join the MeetUp Group. We welcome new runners and more experienced runners to join this Meetup group: https://www.meetup.com/TCTC-Running-Groups/.

Most runners in this Meetup group are also members of Twin City Track Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting running and fitness in the Winston-Salem area. Membership is not required to join the running group, and there is no fee to participate in runs. Of course, we would love it if you did join TCTC. How far: 9 miles with several hill climbs.
How fast: This run typically draws intermediate to advanced runners with paces varying from sub-7:30 to 9 minutes. Runners with slower paces are advised to check before coming to see if similarly paced runners will run. We can always break into "B" and "C" groups depending upon who shows up.

How far: 5-6 miles.
How fast: Paces range from 10:30-11:30 per mile. This is a no-drop run, and all levels and paces are welcome. Be prepared to go at an easy pace.
