Running (and swimming and cycling) news and notes from around the Triad:
Among the running events that are back in person will be Saturday's Fleet Feet Pickle.
The Fleet Feet stores in Greensboro and High Point are hosting the 16.1-mile event, in which runners can form teams or run solo. The run starts at 7 a.m. at the Greensboro store and will wind its way to the High Point store for the finish.
Proceeds will benefit the Backpack Beginnings Foundation.

Growler Gallop coming in September
Trivium Racing's popular Growler Gallop 5K and 10K on Sept. 19 not only are returning but in a familiar place.
SouthEnd Brewing, at 117 Lewis St, Greensboro, will be the partner. SouthEnd operates in the location formerly owned by Gibb's Hundred, a former Growler Gallop teammate.

RunnerDude is now an EarlyDude; Run the Boro returns
RunnerDude's Fitness' free Saturday group runs have moved to a 6:30 a.m. start time. Learn more at owner Thad McLaurin's Facebook page.
Meawhile, RunnerDude's Run the Boro series will return Sept. 4 with Volvo Financial Services as the title sponsor.
Twin City Track Club offers Fit 4 Series bundle
The Twin City Track Club is offering a 15 percent discount on its Fit 4 Series Bundle, with a price increase coming Sunday.
The races:
• Hobby Trails to You! 5K and 10K on Aug. 14
• Salem Lake Trail Races 30K, 7 Miles and 5K on Sept. 25
• Black Friday Relays on Nov. 26

Avery, Fredericks win Distilling Speakeasy 5K
Andrew Avery, a resident of Denver, N.C., and Greensboro's Emma Fredericks won Trivium's Greensboro Distilling Speakeasy 5K on Friday night.
Avery, in 18:17.5, edged Summerfield's Hazen Harvell. Fredericks finished in 19:02.1, ahead of women's runner up Lydia Randolph of Jefferson, Ohio (19:34.1).

Triathletes compete in Clemmons
Olympians from around the world are competing for gold medals in triathlon in Tokyo. The Triad might be growing its own contenders.
A total of 191 young people, ages 7-14, competed in the Kids for Kids Triathlon on Saturday at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.

On the adult side of the sport, Winston-Salem's Jade Costen and Annecy Daggett took top honors in the companion Smiley Sprint Triathlon, also at Tanglewood on Sunday. Costen completed the course in 53 minutes and 48 seconds. Daggett finished in 1:03:07.
A total of 277 individuals, plus 14 relay teams, finished the event, named in memory of the late Richard Smiley, a fitness business owner and trainer in Winston-Salem.
