22 For 22! Unique race distances

We love our 5Ks and 10Ks.

A lot of us love half marathons.

And we can spend four hours running a marathon and spend the next four weeks talking about it.

But the Triad dares you to be different, too.

If you've never raced these distances, Running Shorts will guarantee you a PR in 2022 on your first time out:

Mixes of miles

Among the less-common distances that are noted in miles are the Running of the Lights (3.2 miles, Jan. 1), Ultimate Runner (4.91 miles, late June), Northern Trails (10 miles, March 12), SwimRun NC (Oct. 15, nearly 19 miles, although the site says nearly 17 miles of running and about 3K of swimming), Triple Lakes (40 miles, usually October) and a big one, Pilot Mountain to Hanging Rock (50 miles, Oct. 1).

But also don’t miss the 4 miles of Owls Roost Rumble (April 30) or Run 4 the Greenway (usually October), the 5 miles of the WTF Half Marathon's companion race (Feb. 27) or Old Town Beerun (March 12), Salem Lake Trail Run (late September, 7 miles) and the Run at the Rock (7 and 14 miles, Dec. 3).

We just need a 15K

Now, if you like the metric system, you can get past your 5K-10K comfort zone and still get that PR – guarantee it! – by going 20K at Pilot Mountain (Feb. 26), 25K at the Frosty 50 (Jan. 8), 30K at the Salem Lake Trail Run (late September), 40K at Triple Lakes (usually October) and 50K at the Frosty 50 (Jan. 8) or PM2HR (Oct. 1).
