Greater Greensboro Senior Games competition captures two awards

There's no question that the community of veteran runners in Greensboro continues to grow each year.

So it's fitting that the Greater Greensboro Senior Games is being honored with recognition.

The Greensboro Games won two awards Jan. 10 at the N.C. Senior Games Coordinators Conference in Asheville.

"We won the Peaks of Greatness Award for our increased participation over the last five years and the 2023 Record Year Award for our highest participation in the history of our Games, which was 330 participants," writes Jennie Matkins, the coordinator of the Greensboro competition and the Active Adults Program coordinator for the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

Senior games competition is open to athletes 50 and older. Registration opens Thursday for 2024 competition in the Greater Greensboro Senior Games. Click to learn more.
