What they're saying

"We're having the event as a fundraiser for Esteem: A Total Transformation (a 501(c)3 non-profit). They're a health and wellness organization that strives to help. It's for low-income or the underserved population, primarily African American, but open to anybody, to those that want to change their health or transform their health into a holistic capacity." – Michael Teal, secretary, Esteem board of directors.

"A rise in anxiety, some depression. We've been able to be there for them. Those are two that stand out as being heightened with the shutdown and social distancing, social implications of that." – Teal on the pandemic's effects.

"Transformation of health: physically, spiritually, emotionally. But if you looked at it day-to-day, a client would come in, they would consult with them regarding their health conditions. If they were maybe dealing with things like hypertension or high cholesterol or lupus, so they'll go over those conditions and tailor a plan for them to try to help them, even to the point of being able to no longer take medications if that's part of the goal, to be able to receive fitness training, exercise, weight loss." – Teal.
