Trivium Racing, Junction 311 hosting half marathons
A look ahead to running in the Triad this weekend.
A strong weekend of racing for the Triad's Junction 311 Endurance Sports and Trivium Racing series is on deck.
In addition, an equally strong lineup of breweries is on tap as a companion to one of those events.
The Triad Brewsfest Half Marathon and 5K, hosted in High Point by Junction 311 on Saturday, will welcome nearly 200 runners for the 13.1-mile event (8 a.m. start) and nearly 250 for the 3.1-miler (9 a.m.).
Nearly 30 breweries are also expected to participate in the Triad Brewsfest Craft Beer Festival, which will start at 11 a.m. at the Mendenhall Transportation Terminal.
Trail runners will look forward to Trivium's Owls Roost Rumble on Saturday, with about 150 signed up for the half marathon (8:30 a.m.) and nearly 160 set to go in the 4-mile race (8:45 a.m.).
Trivium is pulling double duty this weekend. The inaugural Elm Street Run, a 10-mile event benefiting TriadBeHeadStrong, will start at 8 a.m. Sunday in front of race sponsor Natty Greene's. Nearly 300 are registered, including about 125 who will take part as survivors or friends and family for a 1-mile walk. About 45 runners are entered in the Elm Street Mile.

I’m ignoring my current fitness level and will run in the Triad Brewsfest half on Saturday and in the Elm Street 10-miler Sunday. I hope to see you there!
