Registration is open for fall programs with Girls on the Run of the Greater Piedmont.

The program's mission, according to the website, is "teaching critical life skills is the cornerstone of our research-based programs. Meeting in small teams, trained volunteer coaches inspire girls of all abilities to strengthen confidence and other important life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity."

Girls on the Run offers programs for grades 3-5 and for grades 6-8, with activities beginning the week of Sept. 4.

Triad locations that will host groups include Country Park in Greensboro, Kimmel Farm Elementary in Winston-Salem, Old Town Elementary in Winston-Salem, and St. Pius X Catholic School in Greensboro.

The program will build toward a season-ending Fall Season Celebratory 5K at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 at Salisbury Community Park in Salisbury.
